Federal Justice Minister Arif Virani holds a news conference in Windsor, Ont., to highlight his government's measures on child-care affordability ahead of the federal budget. The April 16 budget will include a new loan program to help public and not-for-profit child care providers expand and renovate their spaces. The government will also offer student loan forgiveness for rural and remote early childhood educators. Judy Bornais, associate vice-president of external at the University of Windsor, and Irek Kusmierczyk, MP for Windsor–Tecumseh, also deliver remarks. Responding to a question from the media, the minister comments on the government's efforts to address the rise in auto thefts.
