Paced bottle feeding for the newborn in side lying

Описание к видео Paced bottle feeding for the newborn in side lying

Paced bottle feeding helps from over feeding baby: the mouth takes 20 minutes to catch up to the stomach, so the mouth can still be hungry when the stomach is already full. Breast and bottle work very differently. Baby is in charge of the breast, while the bottle has a hole in it and flows even when baby isn’t actively feeding. Over feeding from a bottle will make you think you don’t have enough breast milk even if you make a normal amount. It can also make baby frustrated by the flow of milk from the breast and inadvertently sabotage breastfeeding

Key points for paced bottle feeding :
🍼Hold baby either upright on your lap or in an elevated aide lying position and never on their back
🍼Use the slowest flow nipple the baby will tolerate
🍼Run the baby’s lips with the bottle nipple, allow baby to latch at their own pace, don’t force it into their mouth
🍼Keep the nipple fill of milk if the baby is seallowing or feeding too fast, coughing or Choking, the nipple Level is too fast. Get a slower flow nipple
🍼 From one month to one year, babies only need about 1-1.5 ounces of milk per hour. Breaatfef babies average 25-30oz in 24 hours based on age and weight. How much you put in the bottle is determined by how many times a day baby is feeding. Most babies take about 2-4 ounces every 2-4 hours. No need to increase as baby gets older!! If you baby is feeding 8 times a day they need about 3oz a bottle. If they feed more than that they need less in each bottle. Its rare for breastfed babies to take 6+oz a feeding. Those volumes are based off formula companies trying to sell a product.e
🍼It should take at least 10-20 minutes to finish the bottle.
🍼Watch the baby and not the bottle, stop when they show signs of being full.
🍼Resist the urge to finish the bottle, even if there is only a little left, when baby is showing signs their tummy is full
🍼Take short breaks to burp and give the tummy time to fill naturally
🍼The tummy can stretch over time with overfeeding, which increases the risk of obesity and type II diabetes later on
🍼Growth spurts and developmental leaps can temporarily change a baby’s feeding patterns
