Peru thrilled the enthusiastic crowd by defeating Slovakia 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20) in a Pool A matchup of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Junior World Championship in Peru 2011.
There were no open seats in Gran Chimu Hall, as Peru fans clad in red and white made their admiration for the players heard. The sound reached a deafening peak when Brenda Daniela Uribe served an ace to put Peru up (3-0). Likely dealing with nerves caused by the large, pro-Peru crowd, Slovakia initially struggled. Slovakia recorded five of their first six points off of opponent error. Slovakia battled back, but Peru held on to win the first set, much to the delight of the home fans.
Peru scored 12 points off of serves, compared to eight for Slovakia. Clarivett Yllescas led Peru with 16 points, and Brenda Daniela Uribe had 11. Nikola Radosova led Slovakia with 12 points.
