Peru x USA 4,5set FIVB Women's Junior 2011

Peru beat United States 3-2 (21-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-20, 15-9) Thursday evening to conclude the second round of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Junior World Championship at Eduardo Dibos Gymnasium in Lima. This was the first match that reached five sets in Eduardo Dibos Gymnasium during the event, and was a special win for Peru as today was the Peruvian´s Independence day.
United States classified to the gold-medal semifinal because they needed just one set to advance out of Pool E. The Americans ended Pool E with a 1-2 record as did Peru and Dominican Republic, but captured four pool points to Domincian Republic's three points and Peru's two points. Peru will compete in the 5-8 classification semifinal.
Grecia Herrada was Peru's top scorer with 18 points, next to Brenda Uribe, Vivian Baella and Clarivett Yllescas with 14 points each. United states' top scorer was Haley Eckerman with 24 points in the match, next to Carly Wopat with 19 points and Madelyn Hutson with 16 points.
