Beautiful Love performed by The U.S. Army Blues, featuring Christian Ertl

Meet Christian Ertl, the winner of the 2023 Blues Solo Competition - Collegiate Division! Christian is currently a graduate student at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Here he is performing "Beautiful Love" by Victor Young and arranged by Paul McKee.

During his career, he has had the pleasure of playing with Dick Oatts, Christian McBride, Joey DeFrancesco, Terell Stafford, Sean Jones, Scott Wendholt, and Tim Armacost. He has also worked with many people at festivals and workshops including Matt Wilson, Dalfeyo Marsalis, Jim Snidero, Adam Larson, and Sherie Maricle.

In an effort to highlight the excellence of the next generation of jazz musicians, the Army Blues hosts an annual solo competition to recognize and celebrate talented young musicians.
