At least 41 police officers have been injured in Delhi after a 60 day peaceful protest – attracting thousands of Indian farmers – turned violent as the country celebrated its 72nd Republic Day.

Farmers are protesting new agriculture laws passed in September which will open the nation up to the free market, with smaller farmers fearing they will lose out to big business.

Protestors marched into the nation's capital to the historic Red Fort complex, breaking from predetermined routes for a planned tractor parade.
