Bosnia - Serbs' Reaction To Peace Agreement

Frontline soldiers on the Bosnian Serb side of Sarajevo said on Thursday (14/12) they would not give up their section of the city without a fight. In the trenches overlooking Sarajevo, they watched on television the signing of the Bosnia peace agreement in Paris. The soldiers don't want to stay when Sarajevo returns to full government --
Bosnian Muslim -- rule, a condition of the accord reached last month in Dayton, Ohio. In Serb-held Grbavica, the signing in Paris was viewed with concern. Most civilians also don't want to give up their
territory.

move out, it is sad that after four years of war we have to give
it to the enemy without a fight."
Soldiers SOT (in Serbian): "I think we should stay here till the
last man, if it is necessary we should fight again, but we should
not leave our land."

Paris, and we can only hope that the international community will
hear the force of the people. If nothing is going to change, I
will stay here, but we will not accept the Muslim authority, that
is the main reason for the three and a half years of war."
Woman, vox pop (in Serbian) SOT: "We will never stay here under
the Muslim authority. I lost a lot of people I loved...never never
never!!"
