'Political animal' Mark Milley's 'astonishing' secret call to China

Documentary filmmaker Ami Horowitz says Mark Milley is a "political animal" amid news the top US General secretly called China over concerns Donald Trump would spark a war.

According to reports, General Milley secretly called his Chinese counterpart twice, even saying he would alert China ahead of time if a war was to be started under the Trump administration.

Mr Horowitz told Sky News host Rita Panahi the move "sounds treasonous".

"It is usurping the chain of command, and more importantly it is undermining one of the most sacrosanct parts of American democracy, which is civilian control of the military," he said.

"That's really the most troubling part of this whole debate and discussion, and it's quite scary."
