Funeral held for man who inspired 'Ice Bucket Challenge' in Massachusetts

The funeral for Pete Frates, the man who inspired the "Ice Bucket Challenge" during his battle with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, was held Friday. Frates died on Monday.

Frates became the face of the viral challenge in 2014, two years after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS.

In 2014, he was hailed as one of the champions of the fundraising campaign, which raised hundreds of millions of dollars in search of a cure.

The funeral was also preceded with a procession that passed through St. John's Prep in Danvers, Mass. where Frates attended high school. Students, faculty and staff lined the route as the procession drove by.
