'We've got to take action on the migrant crisis'

Boris Johnson and the French president have discussed migrant crossings in the English Channel during a phone call.

A Downing Street readout of a call between the Prime Minister and Emmanuel Macron said: “The Prime Minister spoke to French President Macron this afternoon.

“The leaders thanked one another for their friendship and comradeship over the last few years. They agreed that UK-French co-operation on the world stage has made a difference on a huge range of global issues, as they had discussed at the recent G7.

“They were both convinced that the bilateral relationship would continue to grow stronger in the years ahead. The Prime Minister and President Macron discussed preparations for the upcoming UK-France Summit as clear evidence of that fact.

Former MEP Ben Habib criticised the government for not acting to solve the migrant crisis.

"We’ve got to stop talking to the French and we’ve got to take action!"
