Man behind Joker-inspired knife attack singled out Tokyo to commit ‘mass murder’

New details have emerged about Kyota Hattori, the man arrested in connection with a horrific Halloween night attack on a crowded Tokyo commuter train, as police transferred his case to the prosecutor’s office on November 2, 2021. The 24-year-old reportedly planned the attack for months, travelling 1,092km (680 miles) from his hometown of Fukuoka to Tokyo to commit “mass murder” after being inspired by a similar attack on a Tokyo subway line back in August 2021.
