Описание к видео "Longevity Salvation" (original song) | music & lyrics by Songs for Sleepwalkers

Fear of death has been an existential psychological phenomenon for as long as there have been humans who die. The latest incarnation is the health and wellness obsession with longevity, which seems a bit pathological and symptomatic of an erosion of spiritual meaning. On a practical level, even if I could use supplements and technology to prolong my life beyond the average natural lifespan expectation, I couldn't afford it, and wouldn't want to. I've made peace with my mortality and I believe in a higher power and a realm beyond. But to each their own! Anyway, hope you enjoy this bit of satire.

Lyrics:
Well getting old just, it just ain't no fun
Because you know your life is almost done

Oh Lord, I don't wanna die (just yet)
I don't wanna go away, up to the big sky (just yet)

So I prayed one night for a sign
On how to keep, keep me from dyin'

Next day while browsing online
A YouTube health influencer, he caught my eye

And you know what he said?
He said, "you don't have to be dead (just yet)"

"Longevity supplements," he said, "are the way,
if you start taking them today"

Hallelujah! I don't have to die!
But it'll cost me 300 bucks for a month's supply

Wow! I don't have to die?!
Ok but it'll cost me 300 bucks for a one month's supply

But then I did some math and realized
it's too expensive not to die
You see, my pension, well it's pretty nice
But I didn't budget for an extended life

Oh Lord, I don't wanna die
But I can't afford to stay alive

Oh Lord, I don't wanna die
But I can't afford to stay alive
