Visiting Fushimi Inari Shrine at day and night when it's dark! The highlight of our Kyoto trip, and one of the best things we did in Japan.

Fushimi Inari Shrine is a stunning Japanese shrine in Kyoto, with thousands of red tori gates. As well as visiting the main shrine buildings, you can walk up the mountain on a pathway through the gates. It's an amazing experience, and absolutely beautiful. Fushimi Inari is also free to visit, and the walkway doesn't close so you can go late in the evening when it's quieter and less touristy!
