Recovery Tips

Cataract surgery is a procedure to replace the cloudy lens of your eye with an artificial lens. The total recovery time is 4 to 6 weeks.

Avoid driving, reading, or watching TV for the first 24 hours post-surgery. Vision may be blurry for the first few days as your eye heals and adjusts.

Wear protective eyewear like a goggle or transparent wrap for the first week.

No dust or dirty water should enter the eye for the first 2-3 weeks.

Take the body bath below the chin and use a clean wet towel to wipe the face.

You can expect to return to normal activities and office during the second week.

You can watch TV or read during the second week.

Avoid eye makeup for 2-3 weeks.

Air travel is allowed after 2 weeks.

Wear sunglasses when you are outdoors.

Avoid exerting too much, including bending over, carrying heavy loads, or performing strenuous exercises for the first 2 weeks.

Driving is allowed after 3 weeks.
