Some of my earliest, deepest memories of feeling one with the rest of nature were in dark, mossy, mysterious Atlantic White Cedar swamps in the NJ Pine Barrens.

Southern Maine (Abenaki territory) also has a handful of these rare natural communities.

Winter exploration causes less impact on this sensitive habitat because I'm walking on top of a layer of snow and ice.
