The key is negotiating in a way that is honest and fair and yet gives your client the maximum leverage to get them the best terms and price. When you negotiate a contract always communicate promptly and do not drop a bomb shell on anyone without warning. No one likes surprises. Also, you want to work toward something that feels like a win/win outcome for all parties. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you want to make deals work, not fail. And you want your clients to feel good at the end about the outcome.
