Sirens sounded across China on Dec 6 as the country paused for three minutes to remember its late former president Jiang Zemin. As top leaders gathered at the Great Hall of the People for a public memorial service, large parts of Beijing were shut to traffic and pedestrians. In his eulogy, President Xi Jinping called Mr Jiang an outstanding leader.
