Goat Island. New Zealand.

Описание к видео Goat Island. New Zealand.

Goat Island is named after the goats released by early seafarers to provide food for those who became marooned. In 1975 the waters around the island were made New Zealand's first marine reserve Cape Rodney-Okakari Point Marine reserve. Since then, it was used for fisheries research and as a training ground for recreational divers.
For the past 24 years the owners of Drunken Jack's have put the goats on the Island to help keep the underbrush down. They are put on the island during mid-spring and taken off during late fall.
