Smallpox (Variola Virus)

Smallpox is probably the biggest killer in human history, and has had a significant impact on the expansion of human civilization. It is caused by the variola virus, which is a poxvirus, so what do those look like? How do they spread and replicate? Precisely how do the symptoms of smallpox progress? This is the only disease to ever be completely eradicated from the face of the earth through vaccination, which is one of the greatest achievements of mankind, so let's get a closer look at this virus now.
