Today we’re making supercute DIY Hello Kitty Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Toppers! These are perfect for making a cup of hot chocolate really special and, way tastier! We’ll walk you through each step to create your very own supercute Hello Kitty marshmallows to enjoy with your hot chocolate or all by itself!

Hello Kitty Cooking Fun has something for everyone! If you aren’t someone who loves hot chocolate, you can add these to tea or any hot beverage of your choice. These Hello Kitty hot chocolate marshmallow toppers also make great gifts for friends and are a perfect treat to bring to any gathering. Below you’ll find the materials needed and step-by-step instructions. Let’s get started:

Materials Needed:

1 cup of cold water
Three (3) packets of unflavored gelatin
1 ½ cups of sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
½ teaspoon salt
Powdered sugar
Red candy melts
Edible black marker
Edible yellow marker
A spatula
Measuring spoons and cups
A medium mixing bowl
A medium cooking pan
A candy thermometer
A stand mixer
A 9 x 13 baking dish
Parchment paper
A Hello Kitty cookie cutter
An icing piping bag and tip
A toothpick

Step-by-step crafting:

(00:38) Step 1: Add ½ cup of cold water and gelatin together in a medium mixing bowl
(00:45) Step 2: Stir briefly and let the unflavored gelatin bloom for at least 5 minutes
(00:50) Step 3: Add the remaining water (½ cup), 1 ½ cups of sugar, 1 cup light corn syrup, and ½ teaspoon salt on a light cooking pan over medium heat
(01:03) Step 4: Stir until the sugar dissolves and comes to 240 degrees on a candy thermometer
(01:12) Step 5: Turn the stand mixer on low speed and slowly add the hot sugar mixture until it begins to cool down
(01:20) Step 6: Raise the speed of the stand mixer to high and continue mixing for another 10-12 minutes
(01:30) Step 7: Dust powdered sugar into your baking dish lined with parchment paper
(01:38) Step 8: Pour the marshmallow fluff into the baking dish
(01:42) Step 9: Smooth the top with your spatula and let it sit for 24 hours
(01:56) Step 10: Remove from the baking dish and flip the marshmallow over, removing the parchment paper
(02:00) Step 11: Take the Hello Kitty cookie cutter and cut out as many Hello Kitty-shaped marshmallows as you please
(02:09) Step 12: Fully coat the edges of the marshmallows with powdered sugar
(02:15) Step 13: Using red candy melts, add them to an icing piping bag and make Hello Kitty’s bow; Clean it up with a toothpick
(02:32) Step 14: Draw Hello Kitty’s face with edible markers
