Ken Curtis was an American actor, singer, and songwriter best known for his roles in Western films and television series. Born on July 2, 1916, in Lamar, Colorado, Curtis began his career as a singer and joined the popular big band group "Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra" in the 1940s. He later transitioned to acting, appearing in numerous Western films and TV shows, including "The Searchers" and "Gunsmoke," where he played the role of Festus Haggen for over a decade. Curtis was also a talented songwriter and composed several songs for films and TV shows. He passed away on April 28, 1991, in Fresno, California, at the age of 74.
