There may be different reasons as to why one would loose their teeth one of the reason is aging. One more reasons may be the bone that supports the teeth becomes weak because of detrimental conditions of the gums. It can also be because of continuously trauma because of opposing or adjacent teeth, or a wrong bite. It can also be because of accident, trauma, sever decay of the tooth. If a type asks me what is the best solution for missing teeth then I would say dental implants is the best solution without a doubt because they are analogous to the dental roots. The science of dental implants is not very new. For the past 40 or 50 years I would say dental implants have been practised for the past 20 to 50 years there have been exponential growth in the use of dental implants or replacement to of teeth. Previously bridges have been given as a good treatment alternative but there are many problems. One of the problems is the two adjacent teeth have to be sacrificed even if they are healthy. A lot of crown preparations, needs to be done of a bridge has to be delivered. As the complexity of cutting the two teeth increases over a period of time, the centre of the bridge will keeps on increasing. For a single missing tooth of a 3 unit bridge as been given, over a period of 5 years the two teeth that have been sacrificed will starts decaying, the gums around that will starts losing support and this extensiveness will increase to a 5 unit or 7 unit bridge or 7 unit bridge. If patient comes with a single tooth that has to be extracted, then a dental implant tooth to be placed on the very same day. This process of putting the implant after teh removal of teeth or on the very same day is called immediate implant and there can be cases where you give crown pr prostheses with immediate loading implant. Therefore we make sure that when the patient walks out of the centre he doesn’t go out without teeth there are new teeth that can be replaced on the very se day with dental implants. Also they help in maintaining the bone height. In the pontic region of the dental bridge, the bone level keeps on decreasing in that region but dental implants and maintain the level of the bone. Also the dental implants can be removed every 6 to 8 months like unscrewing action, remove the crown, if multiple implants are given and a hybrid prosthesis is given, the implant is cleaned well and around the gums can be maintained properly and priestesses can be fit back. So when we compare with dental bridge the maintenance is not so great because dental bridge once they are fixed it cannot be removed. There are quite many implant systems nowadays.
