Babar Azam reached his Eighth Test Century in 126 balls with 13 Fours and 1 Six on the Third Day of the Pindi Test between Pakistan and England. Even though he ended his innings by being caught at point for 136, he played at a healthy strike rate of 80.95. With Babar Azam’s Skill and Technique, no one expected anything less from him on this flat belter.

The Third day of the Test saw England bowling toiling away with some attacking fielding early on - which was fiercely contested by some sound batting by the Home Team. Much has already been discussed about the Pitch at Pindi with Chairman Ramiz Raja bearing the brunt of the bulk of criticism along with the infamous Pitch Curator. As expected, no help was offered to the bowlers and the batters continued with their run collection. The stark difference between the run rates of the two teams can be seen by the fact that England were 657/10 at the end of 101 overs whereas Pakistan was tottering 363/3 by the end of 101 overs!

Watch Our Experts analyze the 3rd day of the First Test in the above video.

Pakistan lost 3 wickets in the First Session, with Azhar Ali failing to make any mark even on a flat pitch. The England bowlers showed good intent by placing a close-in field to the Pakistani batters. Joe Root was seen shining the ball by rubbing it on Jack leach’s semi-bald head. The picture went viral in no time, with people and commentators praising Root for his innovative thinking.

The Pakistani batters started the 2nd session with more vigor as Babar Azam was seen smashing the ball for a Six to reach to his Fifty. Even though the strike rate was much lesser in comparison to his English counterpart, but there was class in Babar’s shots. Saud Shakeel finally fell as a victim of a seaming delivery from Robinson making 37 with a strike rate of 39.36 right at the start of the 3rd session.

A solid innings by the Pakistani Captain came to an end when Babar got tempted and chopped in the air to point off the bowling of part-timer Will Jacks. Anderson claimed his First Wicket of the Match in the form of Rizwan for 29 runs in 44 balls. This was Anderson’s first Test Wicket on Pakistani soil!

At the end of the day - 7 Pakistani Batters were back in the hut for 499 runs on the board with 158 runs needed to equalize!

The day saw three centurions from the Pakistani side – Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam. Even though their strike-rate was no where near the England batters, but they did not let go of an opportunity of getting their Test Batting Average up on a Flat Track.

Australia Vs West Indies

The 4th Day of the Test saw another century by Marnus Labuschange which helped Australia establish a firm lead. The West Indies started their 2nd innings solidly but lost 3 wickets at the end of the day. Braithwaite is still batting at 101 not out and West Indian batters have 306 to get on the last day of the Test tomorrow!
