What formation a team choses to play is becoming an increasingly talked about topic in the world of football. How a manager places his 11 players on the pitch can seemingly have a huge impact on how a team performs, But how much does it actually matter? Well for today’s video we’re going to be taking a look at the statistics behind all the formations used in the Premier league, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 so we can officially answer the question, What is the Best formation?
So far this season 19 different formations have featured in Europe’s top 5 leagues, with some managers choosing to switch up their formation every week, such as Augsburg in Germany, who have used 7 different formations in their first 8 matches of the season. The formations have varied from the classic 4-3-3 to rather modern systems such as the 3-2-4-1. But which formation is the most popular?
