At this point, we’re coming up with new rules, aren’t we? Nothing wrong with that, just thought I’d foreground it before we got into the meat and potatoes. Monsters inspire other monsters, and looking back it’s very clear which are iconic, and which are pale imitations. It’s a lot of fun to compare, contrast, and analyze what exactly made a monster work, and what has lasting appeal. It’s equally fun to ridicule the ones that didn’t quite make the cut. But that’s not what’s on the menu today. No, today we’re back to the best and brightest. And if they don’t fit in either of those categories, at least they’re memorable.
