Respect for others begins with self-respect. You have to know how to lose, that's true, but you also have to know how the manner in which to win. When one is young and the sky has just been reached, when the victory is acquired and everything is ready to celebrate, you must always respect the other and keep in mind that the victories are often the prelude to defeats because sport as life is an obstacle race. What we saw at the Paris Grand Slam is the absolute triumph of a code of honour, an education. There were sublime gestures, purely technical and then there was also the perfect illustration of what Judo is, values above all else.
