Caruso - Lara Fabian Cover

Описание к видео Caruso - Lara Fabian Cover

A melodramatic tale of the opera singer, Caruso. This is a classical Italian piece, as old as the country itself it seems. But fun fact, although it’s origins are Italian, the language is actually a branch of Italian, called Napoletano (mostly found in southern regions of the country- and most Italians don’t use this language.. Or care for it very much. It’s pretty old fashioned.) I hope you enjoy my take on the tragic tale of Caruso bidding his life and loves goodbye. (P.S. I have loved this from Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Lara Fabian, Il Volo, every Italian icon ever…)

Thank you to my dear friend and mentor Darryl One for the beautiful piano accompaniment.

Translation:

Here, where the sea glistens
and the wind blows strongly,
on an old terrace before the Gulf of Sorrento
a man embraces a girl
after having cried
then he clears his throat
and sings the song:

I love you very much
so much, so much, I love you.
It’s now a chain
That melts the blood inside our veins, you know.

Saw the lights in the middle of the sea,
thought of the nights there, in America,
but they were only fishing lights
in the white wash of a propeller.
Felt the pain in the music, and he
stood himself up from the pianoforte
but when he saw the moon come out of a cloud
even death seemed to him sweeter.

He looked at the girl in the eyes,
those eyes green like the sea,
then, all of a sudden, a tear came out
and he thought he was drowning.

I love you very much
but so, so much, you know.
It’s now a chain
That melts the blood inside our veins, you know

The power of the opera
where every drama is a falsehood,
that, with a bit of makeup and with mimicry,
you can become someone else.
But, two eyes that are looking at you,
so close and true,
make you forget the lyrics,
confuse the thoughts.

So everything becomes small,
even the nights there, in America,
you turn and see your life
as the wash of a propeller.

I love you very much
but so, so much, you know.
It’s now a chain
That melts the blood inside our veins, you know

I love you very much
but so, so much, you know.
It’s now a chain
That melts the blood inside our veins, you know
