Gaelic Sunday. A National day of defiance.

Описание к видео Gaelic Sunday. A National day of defiance.

One hundred years ago Ireland was a country in turmoil as British authorities looked to suppress a surge in Irish nationalism.

At 3pm on August 4th, 1918, the country bore witness to a mass act of civil disobedience.

More than 50,000 Irish people evaded authorities and gathered in an uprising against their oppressors…

Today we honour the memory of those courageous GAA men and women who stood their ground on ‘Gaelic Sunday’.

On the weekend of August 4th and 5th this year the GAA is encouraging you to remember the spirit of Gaelic Sunday. Whether it's a puck-about or a challenge match with your neighbours; having a family day or celebrating your own club history and tradition with some ceol agus craic - that's up to you. Come out and show your own pride and passion in your club, community and in our Games.
