The colourful and quirky past of Rory Stewart

From smoking opium in Iran to running for the 2019 Conservative leadership race and now for Mayor of London, Rory Stewart has an interesting and colourful background.

The MP for Penrith and the Border said he will stand down at the next election, and has resigned from the Conservative Party.

In a campaign video released on Twitter, Mr Stewart said he was leaving the "Gothic shouting chamber of Westminster".
