They’re Not Just Ken and Barbie

We found Ken and Barbie newly abandoned at a dumpster along Shkoder Lake far from restaurants and houses. “Ken” because the Albanian word for dog is “Qen” (pronounced chen). If he’s Ken, she’s Barbie.

We fed them, but we knew what they needed most was not food. They needed to be neutered. We took Ken to Dr. Sokol that afternoon. Would have taken Barbie too, but she growled at us. We went back for her the following day, and after many tries, got her too. She turned out to be very sweet.

What will happen to them? We don’t know. Ken was neutered that same day, and Barbie will be spayed this coming Monday.

I don’t know how their owner had the heart to dump them especially at a place where there was no food, no shelter, and without neutering them first. Cruel and irresponsible; they don’t deserve these two playful, cute and loving dogs. Help Ken and Barbie find a home, and let them live a dignified life.
