Well funded, good quality public education is a constitutional requirement. Not only does it serve as an engine for skill building and economic growth but most importantly it is required in making us informed citizens capable of asking questions. However, despite many promises, over the last 10 years, the education budget has been highly inadequate. This has resulted in massive learning deficits among children and the youth alike. As a result, many youth graduating from colleges do not have the requisite skills and capacities to be employed. Moreover, there is a growing concern that many leaders of the BJP have pushed to include topics like vastu and astrology which are at odds with constitutional values of scientific temper. Attempts at rewriting history to suit a Hindutva political agenda is likely to result in complete erosion of understanding our collective journey. Underscoring these challenges, this video is largely based on a report on education released on April 17, 2024 by a Civil Society Platform called ‘Bahutva Karnataka’ as part of a series called ‘Ten years of NDA: A guarantee check’
