The Fender 70th Anniversary American Ultra Stratocaster serves up a gorgeous amethyst finish, along with a roasted maple neck in a modern D shape, HSS pickup configuration with S-1 switch, 10"-14" compound radius and 22 medium-jumbo frets with rolled edges.

“I remember thinking, ‘What is so particular about the Strat sound that everybody loves so much?’” says guitarist Taylor Gamble (Stevie Wonder, Victoria Monét, Ari Lenox). “Then, after my grandfather’s passing, I ended up with his electric-blue Stratocaster, and the neck and body felt good, and it was light. It felt great. I’m a tone girl, and the thing I love about Strats is no matter what pickup position you choose, you are always going to cut through. And, of course, you can get so many different tones out of a Stratocaster, from rock to country to R&B and gospel. It literally does everything.”

Gamble enjoys the American Ultra’s HSS pickup configuration because she loves humbuckers, but she also finds lots of uses for the single-coil settings. “I love the neck single-coil, for example, because it sounds warm and well-rounded, but with slap and punch. I’m inspired to play pretty chords and more open voicings.”
