President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomes the Right Honorable Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, as the latter embarks on an Official Visit to the Philippines from 18-20 April 2024.

Accompanied by his delegation, Prime Minister Luxon is accorded with arrival honors and signs the guest book before proceeding to a bilateral meeting with President Marcos Jr.

The main purpose of the visit is to create opportunities for New Zealand businesses to expand their reach in the Southeast Asian region. Additionally, it aims to achieve substantial solutions to address issues and create tangible results on important matters such as sustainability, climate change, food security, renewable energy, disaster risk management and good governance.

Prime Minister Luxon’s visit to the Philippines is the first by a New Zealand leader in 14 years. The two nations established diplomatic ties in 1966 and have their respective Embassies in each other's capitals.

The Philippines and New Zealand have a rich cultural exchange, fostering close bonds through education and people-to-people connections. The Filipino community, known as ‘Kiwinoys,’ comprises over 1.5% of New Zealand's population, with more than 100,000 Filipinos contributing significantly to the country's economy.
