BUDGET LOS ANGELES: TOP 4 CHEAP, AFFORDABLE HOTELS IN LA FOR UNDER $150/£150 (to save you money)

Los Angeles, the City of Dreams. People think of LA as just being Hollywood, but there are so many different places to stay. Yes, you can stay in Hollywood (and indeed this video features 2 fabulous Hollywood hotels) but downtown is equally as exciting and also has some great cheap, affordable hotels to stay in. This video is all about trying to save money and budget in LA by staying in a cheap, affordable hotel for under $150 (which is £150) a night. Most of us are travelling on a budget at the moment, what with this current, global cost of living crisis and I've found the top 4 cheap, affordable bargain hotels, each with a different personality and different things to offer.
Hotels featured in this video include:
1. Mama Shelter - this is in Hollywood and is right round the corner from the Hollywood Walk of Fame (also featured in this video). It has a fabulous rooftop terrace (with a Hollywood sign view) as well as funky rooms and great rates which include breakfast.
2. Garland Hotel - this hotel is in North Hollywood, about 10 minutes from Universal Studios - indeed, this hotel offers free shuttles there. The Garland feels more like a resort than a hotel, with a great outdoor heated swimming pool, hot tubs, a massive gym, a fabulous restaurant and large rooms. There's even a self-service launderette - a bonus for families.
3. The Delphi - this newly rebranded hotel is downtown with massive rooms, a fabulously long swimming pool opening Spring 2024, a great diner and more. I was a big fan. From here it's a ten minute walk to the amazing Broad museum (where you can get free entry if you book online). And from the museum it's another ten-minute walk to LA's historic center and pedestrianized Olvera Street. It feels like a slice of Mexico here.
4. The Moxy/AC - this is also downtown, about a ten minute walk from the Delphi Hotel and twenty minutes from the Broad Museum. This is a brand new hotel and building which is opposite a baseball stadium and is actually two hotels in one. Half the building is made up of the cheeky, playful Moxy hotel - these are the cheaper rooms which can come in at under $150. The other half of the hotel is made up of the AC hotel (which I believe is Spanish-owned). These rooms are more stylish/elegant and grown-up and cost a little more too and will probably bust your $150 budget....
