In an election speech in Rajasthan's Banswara on 21 April 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that the Congress wanted to snatch the land, life savings, gold, and even ‘mangal sutras’ of Hindus and give them to India’s Muslims. Modi claimed that in a speech in 2006, then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had said that Muslims should have the first right to India’s resources. But that is not true. PM Modi also used the word 'ghuspaitiya' or 'infiltrator' for the minority community. The PM’s statement allows Hindutva extremists to follow suit, says Rohit Khanna.
