How is an Echocardiogram (Echo) performed?

Описание к видео How is an Echocardiogram (Echo) performed?

An echocardiogram is a non-invasive diagnostic test that uses ultrasound waves to create images of your heart. The test can reveal abnormal heart valves, weak heart muscles, and blood clots. It's a safe, painless, and quick procedure widely used in diagnosing and monitoring heart conditions.

An echocardiogram is performed by a sonographer or a cardiologist. The patient lies on an examination table. The sonographer uses a transducer, a handheld device, to send and receive ultrasound waves. A clear gel is applied to the chest to enhance the ultrasound waves' transmission. Moving the transducer over the chest generates images of the heart on a monitor, allowing the Cardiologist to evaluate the heart's structure, function, and blood flow in real time. The entire process typically takes 20-45 minutes to complete.
