Building a lime kiln requires skill and patience and time. Sometimes, time is lacking. However, it was still possible to build in a very short time with very few materials. A kiln is stone retaining walls, a stone arch, and a stone column all rolled into one.

Burning lime is an ancient practice dating back thousands of years. My own family has been burning lime for generations. Well, we took a “break” from it for maybe ninety years. But now, I’ll be doing it again.

All for the restoration of a mid-19th century log house.
