ED Attaches Rs 97.79 Crore Properties of Raj Kundra & Shilpa Shetty in Bitcoin Scam | News9

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken significant action in the Bitcoin scam case, provisionally attaching properties valued at Rs 97.79 crores belonging to Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. Among the attached properties is a residential flat in Juhu, presently owned by Shilpa Shetty.

The investigation by the ED was initiated based on multiple FIRs against Variable Tech Pvt Ltd and a number of MLM agents. It has been alleged that these entities collected substantial funds in the form of Bitcoins, promising exaggerated returns of 10% to the public.

Further revelations by the ED indicate that Raj Kundra received 285 Bitcoins from the mastermind of the Gain Bitcoin Ponzi Scam, Amit Bhardwaj. Kundra still retains possession of these Bitcoins, currently valued at Rs 150 crores.

Earlier arrests were made in connection with this case, and properties worth Rs 69 crores were attached by the ED. However, the main accused, Ajay Bhardwaj and Mahendra Bhardwaj, remain absconding.

The ED's actions underscore the severity of the allegations and the commitment to pursue justice in cases of financial fraud and money laundering. As investigations continue, the involvement of high-profile individuals like Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty further amplifies public scrutiny and highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in financial dealings.
