Scope & Content: On the need for town planning. Reel 1 contrasts sunny, serene New England countryside with smoky, noisy New York City. Healthy country boys ride hay wagons and run in fields. Pale city children play in a railroad yard. Reel 2 shows poor housing, traffic congestion, and inadequate play areas in New York. Stresses the frantic tempo of city life. Reel 3 shows a modern, planned town: safe and adequate play areas, abundant sunshine, spacious living quarters, clean factory buildings and grounds, ample shopping facilities, and a well devised street system. Contrasts this relaxed life with the hurried pace of the city. The planned towns shown are Greenbelt, Md., and Radburn, N.J.
