Dolomites by roadbike · Sellaronda Bike day with a little bit of history

Let's start with saying something about the Sellarona Bike day. First, it's not a race 😉. Twice a year (June and September) the famous Dolomites passes around the Sella massif (Gardena, Sella, Pordoi, and Campolongo) are closed for motorized vehicles so that only cyclists can enjoy this loop all by themselves. Over 15.000 cyclists of different types pedal during this day on the 60 km loop. It's a spectacle for the eyes but also for the ears as the only noise you hear is the deep breathing of the people riding up the passes.
It's an event that you should not miss if you find yourself around in June or September. Last but not least there is also the second event in June, the Dolomites Bikeday, usually 2 weeks later than the Sellaronda Bike day.

This year I wanted to give honor to an amazing piece of Italian artwork. A Bianchi road bike from 1976. So far this bike did just 2 Sellarondas during his 46 years of life. But I don't want to spoil you, check out the story in the video.
