Renewal: The Chinese State and the New Global History

On 28 August, the LKY School launched the book Renewal: The Chinese State and the New Global History by historian Prof Wang Gungwu, Chairman of the Governing Board of the School. The book, which he explained was a collection of his thoughts and contemplations on China's roots and routes along its modernisation trajectory, probes into the Chinese perception of its place in world history, and traces the unique features that propelled the country onto its modern transformation. During the launch, he engagingly provided excerpts that depict the travails of renewal that China had to face and keen insights to China's position in today's interconnected world.
