Mr. Sarabjith Singh Sahota, who is working in multi-cultural, multi-stake holder environments was the second speaker. He spoke about urban planning and solutions for humanitarian issues. He briefed how a disaster affects the people and the problems the face like children getting dropped out of school, migration to unknown city, early marriage, Human Trafficking and the time when they recover from the previous disaster, the next waits for them! Mr.Sahota emphasized on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) strategy and on being reactive than being proactive, to reduce the Disaster risk. For example, he presented the case studies of some villages in Bihar and Samastipur to explain how their "Raise and Rise" program worked and how the people recovered from malnutrition with their own plans. Mr. Sahota, said emphasis should be laid on awareness about man-made and natural disasters. strategy and on being reactive than being proactive, to reduce the Disaster risk.
