The First Day of the Test between England and Pakistan turned out to be a run fest for the visitors! Looks like the Virus did a complete U-Turn with the English players coming out with firm intent to dismantle the Pakistani bowling. They were served on a platter with a flat pitch which was tailor made for batters, four debutants in the Pakistani line-up, a captain who ran out of ideas in the first session itself and a fielding set up which lacked firepower.

Watch our Experts analyse the Game today, point out the mistakes, and advice areas of improvement.

With the DRS not working for the first part, a close call right at the start was just about the only chance the Pakistanis got! When this call went against the Home team, there was no looking back. The England team had piled up 174 for the loss of no wicket in the First session with Crawley sitting at 91* and Dunkett at 77*.

All the Four Centurions – Dunkett, Crawley, Pope and Brook were striking the ball as if they were playing in T20 format. Three out of these had an unimaginable strike-rate of over a hundred! With only 75 overs being bowled in the day due to bad light and the score crossing 500, one shudders to imagine what would have happened if all 90 overs were bowled.

At the end of the day, the four of the Englishmen were back in the hut. With Harry Brook and Ben Stokes still at the crease, and Will Jacks and Livingstone to follow, the Second Day of this famed Test Match doesn’t look any better for the Pakistanis.

Even Pakistan Team had a Centurion!

Zahid Mahmood bowled a tedious 23 overs in the day which was almost 33% of the entire bowling. Though he was successful in picking up two wickets, but he gave away a mighty 160 runs. The Pakistani bowling looked flaccid to say the least, with only Mohammad Ali giving less that 6 runs an over.

The Pakistanis bowled with an intent which was as Flat as the Pitch. The Captain – Babar Azam had no clue what was happening and had no way of controlling the gush of runs. The fielders were seen succumbing to the balls racing to the boundary. The English found gaps easily. It seemed like they were toying with the inexperienced bowling line up.

There is an Outcry across Pakistan at the Gifted Pitch and the poor intent shown by the sub-continent team. People are demanding an explanation for the poor planning by the team management and the lack of attacking cricket.

The players and the country are left flat on its face. It will be interesting to note what Babar says to lift his team tomorrow so that Pakistan can have a chance to come back in this Pindi Test.
