It has been roughly 8 months since one of the deadliest wildfires in US history ripped through Hawaii, causing billions of dollars in damages and killing more than 100 people in the historic Maui town of Lahaina. Now, 2 new reports released this week are shedding some light onto what exactly happened and the contributing factors, including a communication breakdown, a lack of disaster preparation and unprecedented weather conditions. Founder of the Vulnerable People Project and a Hawaii native, Jason Jones, joins to share what his assessment of these reports is. Jones discusses what he thinks could have been done better.
