Every surgeon encounters complications and often times these are out of the control of the surgeon. Imagine a patient who gets endophthalmitis despite a great cataract surgery, safe sterile technique, and well-sealed incisions. Or this case where there is ferocious iris prolapse. We can put iris hooks or pupil rings to help control this, but when you look at the picture here and you see iris even prolapsing through the paracentesis, you know that the protoplasm and anatomy are playing a major role.
