Le S4 est un service ferroviaire du S-Bahn de Saint-Gall qui assure un service horaire entre Sargans et Rapperswil via Saint-Gall, reliant les gares des cantons de Saint-Gall et d'Appenzell Rhodes-Extérieures.
Entre 2013 et 2023, il a fonctionné sur un itinéraire circulaire (Ringzug), passant également sur la ligne ferroviaire Ziegelbrücke – Sargans au sud du lac Walensee.
Südostbahn (SOB), une entreprise privée détenue principalement par la Confédération et le canton de Saint-Gall, exploite le service.

Saint-Gall : La métropole à taille humaine de Suisse orientale est située entre le lac de Constance et le pays d’Appenzell.
Les encorbellements peints sont caractéristiques de la charmante vieille ville piétonnière.
Le domaine collégial, avec la cathédrale et la bibliothèque, est inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO.



Die S4 ist eine Zugverbindung der S-Bahn St. Gallen, die stündlich zwischen Sargans und Rapperswil über St. Gallen verkehrt und Bahnhöfe in den Kantonen St. Gallen und Appenzell Ausserrhoden verbindet.
Zwischen 2013 und 2023 verkehrte der Zug auf einem Ringzug, der auch über die Bahnstrecke Ziegelbrücke–Sargans südlich des Walensees führte.
Betreiber ist die Südostbahn (SOB), ein privates Unternehmen, das sich mehrheitlich im Eigentum des Bundes und des Kantons St. Gallen befindet.

St. Gallen : Die Metropole der Ostschweiz zwischen Bodensee und Appenzellerland hat eine reizvolle, verkehrsfreie Altstadt.
Typisch sind die buntbemalten Erker.
Der Stiftsbezirk mit Kathedrale und Stiftsbibliothek ist UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe.



The S4 is a railway service of the St. Gallen S-Bahn that provides hourly service between Sargans and Rapperswil via St. Gallen, connecting stations in the cantons of St. Gallen and Appenzell Ausserrhoden.
Between 2013–2023 it operated over a circular route (German: Ringzug), also running over the Ziegelbrücke–Sargans railway line south of the Walensee.
