Castle Goring - Is used as a Wedding venue. It was designed to replicate Arundel Castle by John Biagio-Rebecca. The build was completed in 1797-8
for Sir Bysshe Shelley.
Bysshe Shelley intended to give the Castle to his grandson, the renowned poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, but he drowned in Italy and never took possession of the Castle.
In 1845 Mary Shelley widow of the poet sold the Castle to its tenant Sir George Brooke-Pechell.
The Grade I listed country house is currently owned by Lady Colin Campbell
The cost of the House is estimated at £ 10.1 million in 2017.
The north side of Castle Goring is Gothic and is thought to resemble Arundel Castle which is 5 miles wast down the A27.
The south side has Greco-Palladian architecture with the front being a copy of the design of Villa Lante al Gianicolo in Rome.
