This is not me or my Ultrastar, so I can't answer specific questions about this particular plane even though I can probably answer general ultralight aircraft questions, as I almost bought an Ulrastar project for $700. It required welding repairs to the frame which is why I passed on it.

I have three other ultralight aircraft. I bought my VJ-24w for $38, my Woodhopper for $99, and my Poorboy I got free. I passed on a forth plane that was free. I can't recommend flying any of them now; there are better ways to fly today that don't require you being in a cockpit. A private plane is obsolete and a lot of trouble and hassle to maintain.

Before you even think of buying a god damn fool ass obsolete death trap airplane :) , get yourself a simulator and spend 2,000 hours in it learning how to fly. These things were popular in the 70's during thegolden age of ultralights but are now obsolete unless you're one to really cream your pants for just taking off, flying straight and level for miles, turning, and landing, while being terrified out of your gourd.

Like I said, there are better, cheaper, safer ways to fly now. Simulators. Quadcopters. Radio Controlled aircraft. Digital FPV.

The main benefit of the Ultrasta was, if you crashed, the pilots body up front absorbed the full impact of the crash and the plane remained mostly unharmed. Chyeah. Still want to fly an Ultrastar and think it's the grooviest utralightever?

If you have any questions about any particular rare ultralight you can't find much info on, email mea and I can look up the specs in my copy of Berger Burr's Ultralight Encyclopedia.

Now I don't even talk to General Aviation pilots, they are all douche bags to women pilots. I can fly rings around them like they were standing still now so I could care less. Now I just punch them in the face and I keep on steppin'. :-) Phuck General aviation.

If you want to read more about my experience hanging out at an internet water cooler with jerkbag guys who try to build airplanes, youc an read about it here:

Simulators.

That's your ticket to flying on the cheap... not any old ultralight...

If you've already got a gaming computer, and a joystick or RC transmitter controller, with a simulator you literally could be flying in less than an hour.
