Описание к видео Michael Franzese | Cambridge Union

Michael Franzese is a former New York mobster and caporegime of the Colombo crime family. He was heavily involved in the gasoline tax rackets in the 1980s, when he was listed by Fortune as one of the most ‘Fifty Most Wealthy and Powerful Mafia Bosses’, and reportedly made more money for a crime family than anyone since Al Capone in Chicago, generating $5 to $8 million a week. He became the main target of Manhattan's federal prosecutor Rudy Giuliani, who later became Mayor of New York. After escaping 5 indictments, he was eventually imprisoned for 10 years, during which he became a devoted Christian. Since then, he has publicly renounced organised crime and co-authored his autobiography, Quitting the Mob. This makes him the only senior official of a major crime dynasty ever who just walked away and survived without protective custody. He is now the founder and chairman of the Breaking Out Foundation, dedicated to educating, empowering and equipping young people to face life’s challenges, especially addiction.
