Early life.....
Ziaur Rahman was born on 19 January 1936 to a Bengali Muslim family of Mandals in the village of Bagbari in Gabtali, Bogra District. His father, Mansur Rahman, was a chemist who specialised in paper and ink chemistry and worked for a government department at Writers' Building in Kolkata. His grandfather, Moulvi Kamaluddin Mandal, migrated from Mahishaban to Nashipur-Bagbari after marrying his grandmother Meherunnisa. His mother's name was Jahanara Khatun. Ziaur Rahman was raised in his home village of Bagbari[citation needed] and studied in Bogra Zilla School. He had two younger brothers, Ahmed Kamal (d. 2017) and Khalilur Rahman (d. 2014).

In 1946, Mansur Rahman enrolled Ziaur Rahman for a short stint in a boys school of Calcutta, Hare School, where he studied until the dissolution of the British Empire in India and partition of India and Pakistan in 1947. Mansur Rahman exercised his option to become a citizen of a Muslim majority Pakistan and in August 1947 moved to Karachi,[21] the first capital of Pakistan located in Sindh, West Pakistan. Zia, at the age of 11, had become a student in class six at the Academy School in Karachi in 1947. Ziaur Rahman spent his adolescent years in Karachi and by age 16 completed his secondary education from that School in 1952.

In 1953, Ziaur Rahman was admitted into the D. J. Sindh Government Science College. In the same year, he joined the Pakistan Military Academy at Kakul as a cadet.

In August 1960, his marriage was arranged to Khaleda Khanam Putul, the 15-year-old daughter of Iskandar Majumder and Taiyaba Majumder from the Feni District (part of then Noakhali District). Khaleda Khanam Putul, later known as Khaleda Zia, went on serve as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh three times. Ziaur Rahman, a captain in the then Pakistan Army who was posted at that time as an Officer of the Defence Forces. His father, Mansur Rahman could not attend the marriage ceremony, as he was in Karachi. Zia's mother had died earlier.

শহীদ প্রেসিডেন্ট জিয়াউর রহমান ছিলেন বাংলাদেশের অষ্টম রাষ্ট্রপতি, প্রাক্তন সেনাপ্রধান এবং একজন মুক্তিযোদ্ধা। ১৯৭১ সালের ২৫ মার্চ পাকিস্তান সামরিক বাহিনী বাঙালি জনগণের উপর আ ক্র ম ণ করার পর তিনি তার পাকিস্তানি অধিনায়ককে বন্দি করে বি দ্রো হ করেন এবং স শ স্ত্র প্রতিরোধ গড়ে তোলেন।

''জিয়াউর রহমানের জন্ম ও বংশ''...

জিয়াউর রহমান ১৯৩৬ সালের ১৯ জানুয়ারি তারিখে ব্রিটিশ বেঙ্গলের বগুড়া জেলার নশিপুর ইউনিয়নের বাগবাড়ী গ্রামের মণ্ডল বাড়ীতে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। তার পিতার নাম ছিল মনসুর রহমান এবং মাতার নাম ছিল জাহানারা খাতুন ওরফে রানী। পাঁচ ভাইদের মধ্যে জিয়াউর রহমান ছিলেন দ্বিতীয়। তার পিতা কলকাতা শহরে এক সরকারি দপ্তরে রসায়নবিদ রূপে কর্মরত ছিলেন। তার ডাক নাম ছিলো কমল।

জিয়াউর রহমানের মূল পূর্বপৈত্রিক নিবাস বগুড়ার মহিষাবান গ্রামে তবে দাদার বিয়ের পর পরিবারটি বাগবাড়ী গ্রামে বসতি স্থাপন করে। গাবতলী, সুখানপুকুর ও যমুনার পশ্চিম তীরবর্তী এলাকার বিখ্যাত নেতা মুমিন উদ্দিন মণ্ডল মহিষাবানী (মৃঃ ১৮৪০) এবং উনার তৃতীয় অধঃস্তন আওলাদ কাঁকর মণ্ডল সাহেবের সরাসরি বংশধর জিয়াউর রহমান। জিয়াউর রহমানের দাদা মৌলবী কামালুদ্দীন মণ্ডল (জন্ম ১৮৫৪) ছিলেন কাঁকর মণ্ডল সাহেবের একমাত্র পুত্র এবং বাগবাড়ী মাইনর স্কুলের প্রধান শিক্ষক।
